I Don’t Want To Know || Extended Version
Can I just say, I love this song, and I love the sarcastic, snarky way they play it towards each other, with a few real little smiles popping in every now and then - because that’s what Fuinn is like. They argue, they irritate each other sometimes, we all do it, even the people we care the most about do things that annoy us sometimes, but ultimately we do still love them, and that’s what I get from this performance.
They’re trying to be annoyed at each other, but every now and then a bit of genuine emotion shows through and you can see they’re almost kind of enjoying themselves.
But I utterly HATE the way it was treated by the show. The way they had everyone sitting there looking awkward, as if they was something wrong with the song choice or the way they played it, or even the way they sounded together. Rachel makes the comment that their voices don’t match together too. It’s like the writers are literally trying to take everything away from us.
We’re not even supposed to be allowed a full successful duet for our OTP, because they’re Ryan Murphy’s punch bag.
Yet all the reactions make no sense. Yeah okay, if they were actually singing a love song to each other - a full on ballad or something - and they were putting in sarcasm and such it would be really weird and uncomfortable… but this song lends itself wonderfully to that snarky, sexual tension they have going on. Their voices sound so sweet together… and it’s nice to hear Cory singing with someone who meshes with him rather than drowning him out. So inadvertently I think, they hit on something really amazing, and then tried to make out that it was rubbish… and of course didn’t include it on any of the albums.
This song is one of my all time favourites on Glee, and they looked so adorable performing it, but it irritates me so much that you can tell the writers and producers were trying to make us go “God look at them, they’re such a mess, nobody even likes their duet… GIVE US FINCHEL SONGS PLEEESE!!1!!”
